The Elemental Flow Method

Elemental Flow weaves strength training, somatic embodiment, and nervous system education into one grounded approach. Think of it as learning to speak your body’s language again.

Instead of muscling over your feelings, we learn to notice and move with them. We track sensations, witness emotions, and build your window of tolerance so your waves don’t have to become tsunamis.

EARTH

We start by creating a foundation of safety in your body and in our work together. That means gentle assessments, clear boundaries, and nervous‑system‑aware plans that your body can actually trust.

WATER

We bring in your values, stories, and vision, so your training isn’t just about shrinking or “fixing.” We use somatic‑informed mindset work to help you make aligned choices in real time, not just in theory.

FIRE

We build strength, power, and capacity. We use progressive training, conditioning, and playful movement to channel your fire into intentional action—not self‑punishment.

Roots & Principles

Seven polished stones aligned vertically on a white surface, with various colors and patterns.
  • We don’t separate fitness, healing, and spirit. Sessions are designed to support your body, nervous system, and inner world together—whether we’re lifting weights, stretching, surfing, on the table for bodywork, or simply breathing.

We start with a real conversation about what you’re navigating and what kind of support feels possible right now. From there, we co‑create a mix of personal fitness and surf training, 1:1 Surf & Soul sessions, yoga and energy alignment, massage, somatic or holistic coaching, or voice work that fits your current season—and can evolve as you do.

Throughout our work, your pace and boundaries lead. I check in often, offer options, and adapt on the fly so sessions feel challenging in a good way—not overwhelming or activating.

  • Wholeness over perfection

We honor your whole self—body, mind, spirit, and story—instead of chasing a narrow ideal. Progress is measured in how you feel and how you’re living, not just in numbers.

    Nervous system first

We respect your capacity. Sessions are built around safety, pacing, and regulation so change can land in your body, not just in your head.

    Consent and collaboration

Your boundaries matter. You’re always invited to give feedback, say no, or change course. We co‑create the work together rather than doing something “to” you.

    Belonging, not performance

This space is for humans who haven’t always felt at home in traditional fitness or wellness settings. You’re welcome as you are—no need to perform, tough it out, or fit a certain mold.

    Sustainability and seasonality

We design practices you can actually live with, and we expect your capacity to ebb and flow. Your program shifts with your season of life, not against it.

    Embodied honesty

We value truth over appearances. Feeling tired, messy, or unsure is allowed here; we use what’s real as the starting point for gentler, more aligned action.

  • Elemental Flow was born from living in the in‑between—between pushing hard and burning out, between “fitness” and “healing,” between loving the ocean and feeling disconnected from my own body. For years I watched people (myself included) try to fix themselves with rigid programs, mindset hacks, or one‑off treatments that never quite reached the places that hurt.

Working in gyms, studios, and healing spaces, I kept seeing the same pattern: people were asked to leave parts of themselves at the door. Sensitivity, exhaustion, grief, spirituality, identity, and history were treated as obstacles instead of information. At the same time, the body was often an afterthought in talk‑heavy spaces, even though it was carrying the bracing, the tension, and the stories.

Elemental Flow grew out of a desire to offer something different—a place where strength training, somatic tools, bodywork, and nervous system awareness all belong in the same conversation. A place shaped by the elements of nature: earth for grounding, water for emotional flow, fire for strength and action, and air for meaning and perspective.

Today, Elemental Flow is an evolving ecosystem rather than a single modality. It’s for people who want their growth to be honest, body‑based, and sustainable; who are ready to listen to what their system is actually saying; and who want support that can meet them in the real, changing seasons of their lives.

  • Elemental Flow is a holistic coaching and bodywork practice that weaves somatic coaching, strength training, nervous system support, and nature‑inspired practices (like surf and ocean time) into one ecosystem. The goal is sustainable, nervous‑system‑aware change—not quick fixes.

  • It’s a way of working that includes your body and nervous system in the process—not just your thoughts. We pay attention to breath, posture, tension, and sensation, and we use gentle practices to help your system feel safer and more flexible. From there, behavior change becomes more sustainable because your body isn’t fighting you the whole way.

  • You still get smart programming and progressive overload—but we also watch for signs of overwhelm, freeze, or shutdown and adjust accordingly. We integrate nervous system tools into warm‑ups, rest periods, and cool‑downs, so your training supports regulation instead of just adding more stress.

  • No. I don’t diagnose, treat mental health conditions, or offer crisis support. Coaching can complement therapy beautifully; many clients work with both. If therapy is needed, I’ll encourage and support you in finding it.

  • Clients often report feeling more grounded and present in their bodies, more consistent with movement, less all‑or‑nothing with food, and better able to notice and respond to stress before hitting full burnout. Physical changes like strength, muscle, or “getting in shape for summer” tend to follow as a byproduct of nervous‑system‑aligned consistency.

  • No. We start from where you are. Your program, pace, and practices are customized to your current capacity, experience, and season of life. You don’t need to be flexible, strong, or “in shape” first.

  • We’ll spend about 20 minutes getting to know what you’re navigating, what you’re hoping for, and what kind of support feels possible right now. You can ask questions, feel out the vibe, and we’ll explore which offering (if any) is the best fit. There’s no pressure to sign up on the spot.

  • For virtual sessions, we meet on video. You’ll need a small clear space to move, comfortable clothes, and any equipment you have (we can also design sessions with no equipment). You’ll get follow‑up notes or app programming so you know exactly what to do between sessions.

  • You can start with a single session (like Somatic Embodiment Coaching, Nervous System Mapping & Regulation, or Therapeutic Bodywork) or with a free connection call. If we both feel it’s a fit for deeper work, we can move into a 12‑week Elemental Flow 1:1 coaching package.

  • Start with the free 20‑minute connection call. We’ll talk through what’s going on for you right now, what you’re wishing for, and I’ll help you choose a starting point that feels doable and supportive.

  • Elemental Flow is based on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi, in the Kailua‑Kona area. I offer both virtual and in‑person sessions. Somatic coaching, nervous system work, and many movement sessions can be done online, while bodywork, Surf & Soul, and some training options are available in person for local clients.

Get to know us

Aloha — I’m Torey, the human behind Elemental Flow. I’m a somatic life coach, certified personal trainer, surf therapy provider, nutrition coach, and licensed massage therapist rooted on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi. I create containers for people moving through big seasons of change, especially those who know the tension between pushing hard and shutting down, and what it’s like to treat your body as a project instead of a place to live.

Over time I saw two things clearly: traditional fitness culture often ignores nervous systems and trauma, rewarding dissociation as “discipline,” while purely cognitive spaces can offer insight without much real‑world change because the body is still bracing underneath. Elemental Flow grew out of my desire to offer something different—where strength training, somatic tools, bodywork, and nervous system understanding all belong in the same conversation, alongside surf‑ and nature‑based practices, yoga, breath, and energy work.

My work is especially attuned to those who perform well on the outside while quietly burning out inside; people who need their identities honored in how we approach body and safety; and anyone ready to stop outsourcing their wisdom and start listening to the quiet signals of their own body again. At the heart of what I do is a simple belief: everyone deserves a place where their full, complex self is welcome and where change can unfold at a humane, embodied pace.

Client Stories

Elemental Flow is built on real humans, real bodies, and real seasons of life—not quick fixes. Here are a few words from people who’ve moved, breathed, surfed, and softened with this work.

“I came in completely burnt out and disconnected from my body. Working with Torey gave me practical strength work and nervous system tools I could actually use. I feel stronger, calmer, and way less at war with myself.”

-Christine M.

“I’ve done a lot of talk therapy, but this was the first time I felt change land in my body. The sessions were gentle and honest, and I left every time feeling more like myself, not like a project to fix.”

-Noah S.

“Surf & Soul changed the way I relate to fear. The ocean became a mirror for how I move through life, and having somatic tools in the water helped me trust myself in a way I didn’t expect.”

-Angel L.
