Hawai’i Surf & Soul Retreat
5 Days on the Kona Coast
Next retreat dates: August 1-5, 2026
A 5‑day, small‑group Surf & Soul immersion on the Kona coast for humans who feel the ocean calling and are ready for a reset in body, nervous system, and story. This isn’t a performance surf camp—it’s a spacious, can’t‑miss experience where warm Hawaiian waves, somatic practices, and honest community come together to help you meet your edge without burning out your system.
Across five days, you’ll move through a rhythm of morning grounding and coached surf sessions, slow, restorative afternoons, and sunset circles that weave together what’s happening in the water and what’s moving in your life. You’ll build real surf skills, learn simple regulation tools for fear and overwhelm, and have unhurried time for naps, ocean dips, journaling, and just being held by the land and sea.
You’ll leave with a more confident, relaxed relationship with the ocean, a personalized Surf & Soul toolkit you can use long after the retreat, and a felt sense that you can meet waves—literal and metaphorical—with more trust, choice, and self‑compassion. If the thought of laughing, learning, and gently stretching your edges in warm Kona water makes something in you exhale, this is your invitation.

What to Expect
Expect a spacious, gently structured few days that revolve around the ocean, your body, and honest conversation—rather than a packed, high‑pressure schedule. You’ll surf in warm Kona waters with supportive coaching, somatic tools, and plenty of built‑in time for rest, reflection, and integration.
Best suited for
This retreat is ideal for newer or returning surfers who want a gentler, more embodied approach instead of a high‑pressure “performance” surf camp. It’s also for people moving through transition (career change, breakup, identity shift, recovery, burnout) who want a grounded, ritual‑like container to process and reset alongside the ocean.
More Details
Group size will be kept intentionally small to allow for plenty of individual attention in and out of the water. After you apply and are confirmed, you’ll receive a detailed welcome packet with what to pack, travel recommendations, and a sample daily rhythm so you can arrive feeling prepared, supported, and ready to exhale.

-
This retreat is for newer or returning surfers who want a gentle, embodied approach to the ocean, not a high‑pressure surf camp. It’s also for folks moving through transition—career shifts, breakups, identity changes, recovery, or burnout—who want a grounded, ritual‑like container to reset with the support of the sea and somatic tools.
-
No. Beginners are absolutely welcome. You should feel comfortable in the ocean (or open to becoming more comfortable), but you do not need to have surfed before. If you already surf, we’ll meet you at your current level and focus on confidence, refinement, and nervous‑system support rather than tricks or performance.
-
This is exactly who the retreat is designed for. We move at a pace that respects your body and nervous system, choose conditions appropriate for the group, and use regulation tools (breath, orienting, grounding) throughout. You always have full permission to pause, sit a session out, or stay closer to shore.
-
Typically: daily guided surf sessions, morning grounding practices, somatic / integration circles, some meals (outlined in your welcome packet), and group transportation between the designated Kona meeting point and surf locations. Exact inclusions will be listed on the booking page and in your confirmation email.
-
Your flights to/from Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport (KOA), travel insurance, and any extra meals, personal snacks, or activities you choose outside the retreat structure. Board rental or wetsuit needs will be clarified in your welcome packet depending on what you already own.
-
Fly into Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport (KOA) on the west side of Hawaiʻi Island. From there, it’s a short drive to Kailua‑Kona. We’ll share recommended arrival/departure windows and shuttle options so you can land in time for the first‑evening welcome and leave without rushing.
-
Group size is intentionally kept small (8 or less) so you receive plenty of personal attention in and out of the water. Think “small pod” rather than big retreat—enough people for shared energy, but intimate enough for you to feel seen.
-
Mornings usually include grounding practices and a surf session; afternoons are for rest, integration, and a somatic or reflection offering; evenings often include a simple circle or ritual and unhurried time to unwind. Exact times may shift based on tides, swell, and the group.
-
Yes. Many participants come solo. This is a welcoming space for people arriving on their own, and the small‑group container makes it easy to connect at your own pace.
-
Yes - this retreat prioritizes nervous‑system regulation, presence, and deep rest. It is not a party‑oriented container; alcohol and substance use are not permitted in group spaces so everyone can feel safe and fully present.
-
If the ocean doesn’t cooperate, we’ll pivot into alternative water time (swims, bodysurfing, ocean connection) or land‑based practices that still work with the themes of edge, flow, and regulation. The retreat is not dependent on “perfect” waves to be meaningful.
-
You’ll receive a detailed packing list after you’re confirmed, but it will include: swimwear, sun protection, a hat, comfortable clothes for movement, a journal, and any personal medications or support items you need to feel regulated and resourced.
-
You’ll find the exact policy on the booking page. Generally, there is a non‑refundable deposit to hold your spot and specific timelines for partial refunds or balance transfers if you need to cancel. Travel insurance is strongly recommended.
-
If you’re curious about surfing, somatics, and nervous‑system‑honoring space and feel both a pull and a little bit of healthy fear, you’re likely in the right place. If you’re still unsure, you can reach out with a few sentences about where you’re at, and we can reflect together on whether this container fits what you’re needing.
How to get here
